The central disc represents our mother, the land on which we live. The sky extends upward to the figure's apex and the ocean is the triangular form at the bottom. Both sky and ocean are reversed from day to night.

In Taino Cosmology it is believed that the heavenly constellations mirror the creatures of the ocean, that is evidence of the nocturnal rotation of land and sea. The motherland is in equilibrium.
